Open Hive Inspection video
On July 20, 2013 at Gold Star Global Headquarters, we held an Open Hive.

We inspected the hive, and did a "mid-season shift" preparing the bees to continue building their comb in the original direction.

2011 - How to Winterize your Gold Star Hive
2011 update:

Lots of emphasis this year on creating an effective windbreak for our hive.  Be creative!  A windbreak can be permanent or temporary - a live planting, or a hay bale fort.  This year we have also wrapped with tar paper similar to the method used by conventional beekeepers in square hives.

Top Bar Hive Winter Success Story - Bath, ME
We LOVE this top bar beehive - it's been on-site at our local school district's L.O.C.A.L. garden for 3 years now.  The kids named it that - it stands for Leading Our Community in Agricultural Learning.  The garden is managed by Emily Dittman at RSU#1 and she does a great job of it!
