Date: Bee Pickup Day 2018 will be on Saturday, April 21st 2018
Time: Pickup hours will be from 9am to 4pm.
At 1:00pm, we will demonstrate how to install a package of bees into their hive.
We will do the installation into a Gold Star top bar hive, and will also step through how the process works with Langstroth hives.
Get up close and personal with the details of opening the package, removing the syrup can, and checking and hanging the queen cage.
It's fun! And it's especially good for first time "hivers."

About the bees:
Gold Star Honeybees are raised treatment-free. What does that mean? It means no chemical treatments.
They are 3-pound packages with naturally mated, unmarked queens.
They are raised on small-cell foundation, making them ideal for all hive types where the bees will make their own wax.
These package honeybees are just fine for other hive types too. We just prefer not to use foundation. Here's more information on why we feel that way.
They are "mutt bees" - a very hardy mix of Russian, Italian, and Carniolan genetics. This makes them: easy-going, industrious, and winter-hardy with a touch of Varroa Sensitive Hygiene or VSH. More detail about VSH can be found here.
They are "four season bees" - acclimated to a climate with four seasons and winter hardy!
They are raised in northern Georgia and the great state of Tennessee.
