  • The location of the 3 one-inch entrances in the center of the long side of the Gold Star top bar hive means that this is a "side center entrance" style of top bar hive. This supports the simple hiving of bees in cold weather due to the air space created on the far side of the two follower boards.
  • This is the Gold Star top bar. Made from one solid piece of wood, it provides the most space for comb attachment by the bees, and the longest possible comb guide. This means it does a great job of keeping the bees building their combs straight on the top bar.
